MPP Bethlenfalvy’s Canada Day Statement
Pickering, ON— As the Member of Provincial Parliament for Pickering—Uxbridge, I want to wish everyone in our community, and across our province, a Happy Canada Day.
Today is an important day for all Canadians, as we mark 152 years since Confederation and celebrate the rights and freedoms we enjoy in this great country.
As the child of immigrants, Canada Day holds a special place in my heart.
I know that the experience of my parents – leaving the country of their birth, their friends and family, to build a better life in Canada – is shared by residents across Pickering—Uxbridge, Ontario and Canada.
This Canada Day, our community will come together to celebrate what makes our region – and country – so special.
However you spend your day, if it’s attending the Canada Day Celebrations at Pickering and Uxbridge City Halls, watching tonight’s fireworks display, hiking or biking one of our many wonderful trails, or gathering with friends and family for a backyard barbeque, I hope you take full advantage of all the activities our community has to offer.
Whether your family started their life in Canada recently or in generations past, I hope we can all take time today to reflect on what makes Canada great and celebrate the rights and freedoms we all hold dear.
I wish you, your family, and friends a safe, happy, and fun Canada Day.
