Ontario Investing in Pickering Soccer Club

Pickering– Ontario’s Government for the People is supporting Pickering Soccer Club, a non-profit organization in Pickering-Uxbridge to improve and expand recreational opportunities for people across Durham Region.

Today, MPP Peter Bethlenfalvy (Pickering-Uxbridge) and Blair Dimock, Vice President of Partnerships & Knowledge, Ontario Trillium Foundation, announced that Pickering Soccer Club will receive a total of $63,700 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Grow Investment and Capital Investment Streams for infrastructure upgrades that will help the club provide more community recreational opportunities for people in the riding.

“This organization is delivering initiatives that are already contributing to strong social and cultural communities in Pickering-Uxbridge,” said MPP Bethlenfalvy. “Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our Government for the People is helping them to expand these initiatives, which means they will benefit even more residents in the region.”

The province’s investment in this important community project is expected to bring positive change to people across Pickering and Uxbridge, fostering lifestyles that are more active as well as the accessibility for physical activity.

“It is encouraging to see the great work of so many non-profit organizations in our province,” said Minister Tibollo. “I am delighted that our Government for the People is supporting their valuable projects. Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we are bringing economic, social, environmental, and health benefits to people across Ontario.”

“The Pickering Soccer Club works tirelessly at building meaningful relationships within our community to ensure our programs serve as many residents as possible,” said Corrado Roccasalva. “The fact that Ontario Trillium Foundation recognizes this by the support of this capital project is another indication that we’re heading in the right direction and we will continue to seek opportunities to grow as a Club by engaging every member of the community”.

“Our state-of-the-art facility serves our soccer members well, but we recognized early on that there were other program and services that could be brought under one roof,” said Matt Greenwood, Executive Director. “With this award we will now be able to offer more sports and to more members of the City of Pickering. Our Club is truly excited to get this project started!”
